Raise your hand if you enjoy trials and tribulations? Pain? Struggles? Okay, no one on the planet will raise their hand rightfully so! But if you took a moment to perceive their is purpose for pain you would see the beauty and necessity of painful events!
Most people find their calling through the toughest and hardest moments in their life!
Many cancer foundations are established after the death of loved one because they want to help the next person beat cancer.
People affected by divorce are inspired to teach others to have healthy and happy marriages.
People once affected by poverty and financial problems teach financial literacy.
People who once struggled with being overweight empower others to achieve their dream body.
Purpose for pain sounds a little different now? Right?
Could it be your purpose is hidden in the thing that has caused you the most pain?
Think about it??
TRUSTING GOD DURING HARDSHIPS
We can’t prevent hardships because its an opportunity to build character and trust God. There is purpose for your trials and tribulations. Even during painful times God has a plan for you. Some battles are best taught through pain and struggle. When you trust God during hard times you are saying “God I’m in pain right now and don’t see a way out but I trust you will provide. I trust that you work all things out for my good. I accept your will to show me what I need to learn in this moment. I know I will become a living testimony to share my story to help others have hope who struggle with the same battles that I have overcame! God’s desire is for you to be delivered from things that hold you in bondage for years/decades to be set free to birth purpose and new meaning in life! Allow him the opportunity to set you free and begin to experience all he created you to be! Live abundantly! I claim this for you in JESUS NAME! LET YOUR WILL BE DONE!!
“Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance, perseverance, character; and character, hope”. – Romans 5:3-4 (NIV)
BEAUTIFULLY BROKEN INTO IMAGE OF CHRIST
Pain has a way of exposing sinful attitudes that we are not aware of. As we face difficulty we are drawn closer to God. God uses hardships to polish our rough edges, change our bad habits, unhealthy behaviors/ mindsets/beliefs, unhealthy relationships, and protection from sin in the future to mold us into his image. Then we can focus on God not our circumstances. We realize every trial God allows because ALL things work for our good. God won’t ever put more on you than you can handle. As you grow and evolve so will your attacks. But God is focus on changing us for the best rather than staying stuck in seasons we have outgrown. We begin to understand that heartache must be endured and brokenness makes more sense because even our most painful moments wasn’t intended to hurt us rather to fulfill the glory of God in your life.
It’s a process!
The Lord strips us of things that may be an obstacle for our spiritual growth. Sometimes we are broken of self-will and self-sufficiency to remove anything that allows us to believe we are in control. We begin to shift to full dependence on the Lord.
When you embrace brokenness as destiny God will change your perspective, birth pain for purpose, plant new seeds, new visions, new blessings, new opportunities, and build character.
“And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast”. – 1 Peter 5:10 (NIV)
HOW WE RESPOND TO PAIN IS A WITNESS OF FAITH
In the words of In Touch Ministries by Dr. Charles Stanley “ How we respond to difficulties is a witness for Christianity. Challenge yourself to make prayer an immediate response to your problems. When you bring your concerns to God his peace will guard your heart and mind which is a powerful witness to a watching world. Problems seem like hindrances to us but our response can change someone’s life if it reflects the love of Jesus Christ”.
“Do not throw away your confidence it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God you will receive what he has promised”. – Hebrews 10: 35 – 36 (NIV)
WHATEVER MAKES YOU MAD IS YOUR MINISTRY
My former Pastor Jamal Bryant said “whatever makes you mad is your ministry!” Remember having a conversation that sparked rage and anger due to pet peeves such as excuses and people giving into their struggles. Conversation was about teen pregnancies, few high school grads, and broken family all in which I can relate. When someone told me they couldn’t finish school due to lack of support and family history. My response: IF THAT WAS TRUE I WOULDN’T WENT TO COLLEGE BECAUSE HAD NO ONE TO LOOK UP TO. THERE WAS NO ONE IN MY FAMILY I KNEW AT THE TIME THAT WAS A COLLEGE GRAD THAT HELPED ME OR SHOWED ME THE ROPES.
After having moment of rage had an aha moment about what my former Pastor said!! I was super mad and passionately believe one should turn difficult moments into a purpose driven life. My ministry is to inspire minorities and underserved population to turn struggles into purpose and walk into your destiny instead of making excuses.
“No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it”. – Hebrews 12:11 (NIV)
ACCEPT THE PAST! NO MORE RUNNING
First step with purpose is to make peace and accept the past. Accepting the past helps you heal instead of operating in pain, anger, bitterness, and resentment.
ACCEPT EVERYTHING! Broken family! Generational Curses! Bad decisions! Heart breaks! Struggles! Fears! Insecurities! Then be free from it all! Understand in order for God to use us we have to take time to heal to function in our God given purpose!
It’s a process!
Ponder on this- What sense does it make to strive to live your best life chasing money, houses, cars, degrees, investments, designer labels when your soul is empty, jealous, damaged, broken, mean, bitter, and angry?
BY ALL MEANS WE HAVE TO FACE DIFFICULT MOMENTS TO HEAL!
WHAT CAUSED YOU TO BECOME THE PERSON YOU ONCE DESPISED?
WHAT HAPPEN TO THE GOOD GIRL YOU?
WHO ONCE BELIEVED IN DREAMS, PEOPLE, LOVE, AND HAPPINESS?
BEFORE THE BREAK UP? CHEATING? MISCARRIAGE? ABORTION?
NOW PAIN HAS CORRUPTED AND INFILTRATED YOUR SOUL!
These are the questions we must answer to heal and get back to who we once were to live in purpose and wholeness.
Personally, I decided to grow spiritually and find my identity in Christ. Got baptized with the understanding as I submerge under water my past is washed away. As I rise above the water I am renewed to live according to God’s will. I washed away fears, comfort zones, stereotypes, past pain, and generational curses.
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose”- Romans 8:28 (NIV)
RIGHT BEFORE WANT TO QUIT BLESSINGS COME
I remember my last semester of nursing school was overwhelmed, tired, drained, anxious, depressed, stressed due to the demanding and intense nursing classes. Now understand at this point took me SEVEN YEARS to get to my last semester of nursing school less than three months from graduating as a Registered Nurse WAS ABOUT TO QUIT. I REMEMBER THINKING “IM TIRED OF GOING THROUGH THIS NO SOCIAL LIFE AND NO MONEY! LIFE WOULD BE EASIER IF I QUIT!
Writing this realize it was the enemy’s plot to think “life would be easier to quit”. BUT GOD who created me to be goal driven said you NEVER quit anything in life hang in there! I thank God for gifting me with will power to self motivate and persevere through pressure and tough days. I realize some people don’t have that natural ability but that’s where pain for purpose comes in! I want to go to low and forgotten places to teach and help people overcome things they never knew they could! Now fast forward SEVEN YEARS LATER I have a social life with funds to do whatever I want whenever I want! Nursing career has opened the door for many possibilities. As well as representing coming from nothing but still making it to the top while sharing the highs and lows with the world to inspire others! You too can have whatever you desire! You can be the first generational college grad! Entrepreneur! Healthy Marriage then Baby! Millionaire! High school grad! Drug free! Alcohol free! Christian! Preacher! Virgin! Honest job! All it takes is one person to change a generation! You can fail, be scared, and still succeed! If I had quit none of this would be possible. If you needed to hear this sis HANG IN THERE JUST A LITTLE WHILE LONGER YOU DIDN’T COME THIS FAR FOR NOTHING TAKE IT ONE DAY AT A TIME CRY KICK SCREAM BUT DON’T GIVE UP OR GIVE IN! IN JESUS NAME! YOU GOT THIS!
“The moment you are ready to quit is usually the moment right before a miracle happens don’t give up”- Unknown author
DISCOVER YOUR NATURAL GIFTS & TALENTS
Identify your natural gifts and talents. I use to think didn’t have a gift because couldn’t sing or dance. Now recognize have one of the greatest gift to motivate, uplift, inspire, and encourage. No matter what you lack, upbringing, environment, insecurities, what is against you, failures, or generational curses. I’m going to do whatever I can to bring about change. My heart bleeds for those who don’t find purpose in their pain. When I look back over my life realized my purpose was always there in the simplest and natural way. You don’t need a platform, degree, and recognition when you are naturally gifted. Sometimes your platform is everyday life, encouraging family, friends, coworkers, and strangers to be more, do more, be positive, go for it, and live your best life. My gift was hidden for such a time as this and every fiber of my being wants to help (Hence why I became a nurse! Love to help people).
“I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us”.- Romans 8:18 (NIV)
CAN I ENCOURAGE YOU?
- Get to work God is birthing something new that’s why you feel so much pain.
- One day you will laugh at the problems you have today.
- You will stay where you are until you learn the lessons God wants you to learn. Appreciate the things that are molding you to become a better person. Even if it hurts or you don’t understand trust God is working everything out for your good.
- Your mess and misery will make a great ministry if you allow God to reveal why what happen had to happen, heal, and use pain to birth purpose.
- There is mourning in growth. Change can be painful. There is mourning to reach your destiny. Growing pains are real. Mourning of people you thought would grow old with. Mourning of people you thought would support and be proud of you. Even those moments have purpose. Press on anyways.
In the words of Maya Angelou:
Out of the huts of history’s shame I RISE. Up from a past that’s rooted in pain. I RISE. I’m a black ocean leaping and wide welling and swelling I bear in the tide. Leaving behind nights of terror and fear I RISE. Into a day break that’s wondrously clear I RISE. Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave. I am the dream and the hope of the slave. I RISE I RISE I RISE!!
Now let that ponder and sink in your heart and soul!
RISE UP OUT OF PAIN TO FIND PURPOSE AND DESTINY!
HOPE YOU ARE ENCOURAGED!
Peace, Love, & Blessings!
