I’m about that green smoothie life. It’s funny people look at me crazy and ask the same questions when drinking green smoothies. The famous questions: “what are you drinking?”(while frowning their face lol) and “how does it taste because looks disgusting?”. My response is always the same don’t go by what it looks like because TASTE OH SO DELICIOUS AND IT’S NUTRITIOUS!! If they only knew green smoothies are the best for healthy living for many reasons such as promotes healthy eating no fad diets, fulfilling, taste good, easy to make for quick meal on the go, healthy alternative compared to fast foods, and ensures daily intake of fruits and vegetables!!

BENEFITS OF GREEN SMOOTHIES

  • Detox body
  • Sustains weight loss
  • Lose weight while eating wholesome foods
  • Boost immune system
  • Increase energy levels
  • Improve mental clarity and focus
  • Radiant skin tone and clear skin
  • Supports normal digestion
  • Promotes regularity and bowel elimination

  • Stabilizes blood sugar

  • Decrease signs of aging
  • Aids in optimum health while eliminating some diseases

PROTEIN IS ESSENTIAL

Greens provide protein but add additional protein in your smoothies to stay fuller longer, grow, and repair muscles and tissues:

  • ADD CHIA SEEDS. Add 1 tbsp. of chia seeds daily in smoothies. Chia seeds aids in energy, strengthens the immune system, weight loss, normalizes blood sugar levels, cleanses the colon, prevents heart disease, lowers blood pressure, and more. I use spectrum essentials organic chia seeds with dietary fiber 4 g, protein 3g, and omega 3 (ALA) fatty acids.
  • ADD FLAXSEEDS. Add 2 tbsp. daily in smoothies. Flaxseeds promotes healthy hair, skin, and nails, lowers bad cholesterol, etc. I use spectrum essentials cold milled organic ground premium flaxseed has 3g dietary fiber and omega 3 (ALA) fatty acids.
  • ADD PROTEIN POWDER. Add 1 – 2 tbsp. daily in smoothies. Recommend plant based protein powder like rice, soy, or hemp. I use nutiva hemp protein has 12g fiber and 11g protein.

GREEN SMOOTHIES CHEAT SHEET

For complete meal that consist of fruits, vegetables, protein, and fat include one of each category:

Base/Liquid: Filtered or purified water, almond milk, coconut water

Greens/Vegetables: Kale, spinach, collards, arugula. Recommended vegetables per day are 3 – 5 servings.  1 serving is equivalent to 1 cup of raw leafy vegetables or 1/2 cup of cooked or raw vegetables.

Fruit: Banana, mango, berries, apple, pear, peach. Recommended fruits per day are 2 – 4 servings. 1 serving is equivalent to medium apple or orange or 1/2 cup of chopped, cooked, or canned fruit. 

Protein: Protein powder, chia seeds, flaxseeds

Healthy fats: flaxseeds, avocado, hemp seeds or oil, chia seeds, nuts, nut butters

Fun fact: Fiber is essential to healthy digestive system, regular bowel movements, reduce risk of obesity and  heart disease. Fiber foods are fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds. Recommended amount of fiber daily is 25g women and 30g for men.

FAVORITE SMOOTHIE RECIPES:

Enjoy my 5 favorite smoothies. Switch it up to never get bored.

Tip: add spinach with recipes because won’t taste it. Spinach is enriched with omegas 3s, calcium, magnesium, vitamins A, C, E, and K.

  1. Pineapple and Mango Smoothie – ½ cup mango, ½ cup pineapple, 1 banana, ½ cup unsweetened silk almond milk, 2 tsp. honey, and ½ cup ice cubes
  2. Mango, Peach, and Strawberry Smoothie – ½ cup mango, ½ cup strawberries, ½ cup peaches, 1 banana, ½ cup pineapple, and 1 cup filtered or purified water
  3. Carrot, Ginger, and Turmeric Smoothie – 1 banana, 1 cup pineapple, ½ tbsp. fresh ginger, ¼ tsp. ground turmeric, ½ cup carrots, 1 tbsp. lemon juice or fresh squeezed, and 1 cup silk unsweetened almond milk
  4. Berry Smoothie – ½ cup blueberries, ½ cup raspberries, 1 cup strawberries, and 1 cup orange juice
  5. Apple Smoothie – 2 cups/handfuls of spinach, ½ cup of ice, 2 tbsp. flaxseed, 1 green apple, 1 banana, 1 cup of filtered or purified water

JJ SMITH 10 DAY GREEN SMOOTHIE CLEANSE

I HIGHLY recommend JJ Smith 10 day green smoothie cleanse book!!!!! I wasn’t a believer of green smoothies to lose weight and maintain weight loss until read countless reviews ALL claiming weight loss, clearer skin, and feeling ABSOLUTELY AMAZING in just 10 days!!!! My curious mind and willingness to try new things provoked me to try 10 day cleanse. It’s TRUE!!! In just 10 days felt better than I ever did in life with no junk food, no soda, no caffeine, no sugar (except from fruit), slept better, mental clarity, more energy, clearer and brighter skin, lost 8 pounds, and my taste buds changed didn’t crave sugar or unhealthy foods.

I love the book because promotes healthy eating and not starving yourself.     You might have to try the elimination diet to see what is doing it for you (because we are all different). But I would suggest starting with chia seeds and bananas and see what happens.

But first quick story about the photos. While taking photos for my compilation book last year also took photos to prepare for GET UP compilation book. I love playing dress up and this was my time to be creative. I wanted the bodysuit to reflect life obstacles that will knock you down. One of those moments was losing my grandma V who I dedicated the GET UP book to. Photoshoot outside reminds me of my grandma favorite scripture Psalm 23(The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul).

I have the audacity to barely know how to swim but I have the audacity to barely know how to swim but still enjoy water activities like jet skiing, parasailing, white water rafting, and snorkeling. I went white water rafting not 1 but 3 times. Good thing is the more you go against your fears the easier it gets. This time I was more relaxed. Next time I will jump out the boat and swim. I love this chapter in my life true relaxation. Fear has subsided. The thrill and excitement keeps me coming back.

Something miraculous happened the first time had 🎤 in my hand. As usual public speaking makes me anxious to the point always want to run when the opportunity comes. But the other side of me who loves a challenge decided to go for it. There was something different that sparkled in my body after I finished speaking that said “I love this and want to do it again”. Speaking on stage is nothing like virtual speaking engagements or toastmasters. I can’t believe this is my purpose and once again God isn’t a liar. If you’re afraid and insecure to run towards your purpose or dream. Start where you are, figure it out as you go, crawl then walk to face your fears, continue to practice, and always be consistent.
